Switch from MacOS to Windows, so you can take your data
Follow these steps to take your files when switching from Mac OS to Windows:
- Turn off both devices first, the wireless network connection (Wi-Fi), so that no confusion occur.
- Then connect the PC and the Mac with a LAN cable.
- Now you need the IP address of your Mac. You can find out about the system settings, make a note of them (see picture).
- Now, add on the Mac in the system preferences under "sharing" in the folder that you want to transfer. You put there under "options" in addition to a check mark for "share files and folders using SMB (Windows)".
- Now switch to your Windows PC. Open the Windows Explorer and enter the above in the address bar the IP of the Macs, starting with a double Backslash (example: \\123.45.678).
- After you have logged in with your Login data, you can transfer the desired files and folders on your Windows PC.
