Macs and MacBooks burn ISO files with on-Board tools
ISO files you can burn on the Mac with on-Board means. You do not need any additional Software:
- Start the disk utility program. You either find in the Finder under applications - utilities, or by going to Spotlight by clicking on the top right corner of the Desktop, the magnifying glass and just "fixed" type.
- In disk utility, you can now drag an ISO file from the Finder into the list of drives on the left, and then click "Burn" button. Or you click on "Burn" and then select the ISO file in the file dialog.
- If you have no (suitable) media in the drive, it prompts one to insert. Then it starts Burning.

After the Burn MacOS checks the data written to the blank disc. You don't want to, because it takes too long, you can disable it in the advanced options. You can find this in the burn dialog behind the small arrow. In the Screenshot of the advanced options are expanded already.

Free burning programs for the Mac
If you still want a program to burn CDs or DVDs, you have a lot of choices:
- The free Burn on. It also runs on older Macs down to Mac OS X 10.3.9.
- Also free is LiquidCD.
- Not more developed is Disco. It is also available as a free Download.
Paid Software doesn't have to be better
You can also spend a lot of money in order to buy "Roxio Toast". This deer is among the commercial programs on the Mac. In the price comparison , you can see that but a certain amount of investment is necessary.
