Importance of 1337 – Leetspeak among gamers

In the following, we will explain to you, what does the number 1337, and what means this exactly:
  • This is the so-called "Leetspeak", derived from the English "Elite".
  • The communication in the Chat is mostly with Numbers, and occasionally special characters. It should add to the Chat and the language of the text more style.
  • Users of Leetspeak want to stand out from the mass and with the use of show that you are something Better and different than the other players.
  • Thus, the number 1337 for "Leet", i.e. "Elite, for example,". You need to rotate the number on the head, to be able to read. The 7 represents the letter "L".
  • The Leetspeak goes back to the first times in Counter Strike. There the language was used to encrypt them in front of the opponents and to keep it a secret.

  • Wherein the "Z" for "second" and, thus, both is correct.
