You want to access the data on your Synology NAS, you need the corresponding Administrator password. You forget this, you have to restore the network hard disk first, and create a new password create. We show you two ways on how to get back your data.

NAS: Admin password forgotten

Alternatively: Synology Firmware reinstall and reset password

Instead of just the network configuration reset, you can upload the complete Firmware. All data will be lost. Perform these steps only if in the first variant, problems occur.
  1. Press and hold the Reset button with a straightened paper clip again approximately four seconds until the NAS emits a beep sound.
  2. Let go of the button. Then press and hold the button within the next 10 seconds, again for four seconds.
  3. It is another beep and the Status-sounds-LED on the front panel of your Synology glows orange.
  4. Start the Synology Assistant and search for your NAS. Under "Status" you will find the entry "configuration lost".
  5. Double-click the entry that starts the Setup wizard. Follow the installation instructions to the Synology Firmware reinstall. Here, you can set a new password.
As your NAS perfectly set up, read on the next page.
