You have ordered something online from outside the EU, the package is not rare at customs. We will show you what to do in this case and what can be.

Package at customs: you will receive your goods

  • A packet is declared incorrectly, or the customs has doubts as to whether the content matches the particulars on the package, must be picked up the shipment personally by the recipient or by a representative at the customs. After 14 days the package is sent back to the sender.
  • You pick up the package personally at the customs, you can print the invoice and bring a copy of the notification as well as your identity card. Then, you must open the package at customs yourself.
  • Alternatively, you can also through the Post represented. The customs notification can submit the missing documents at the Post office or your postman. For this purpose, a fee is due and the job takes much longer.

Package at customs: these are the costs you can expect

  • The package comes from outside the EU, you must pay tax on the goods afterwards. This is the case, if the amount of the invoice (including shipping) exceeds the free limit of 22€.
  • The import sales tax is 19 per cent. Objects of art, books, and some of the other categories are only taxed with 7 percent subsequently.
  • To spare unnecessary effort, you will be charged the turnover tax on imports in General, only around 26 Euro. Duty is only collected from 150 euros, many of the technical devices such as smart phones are duty free, other things are taxed with up to 20 percent.
