OwnCloud-install Updates
Updates are small updates which resolve, for example, less obtrusive errors are comparatively. The major version number of OwnCloud is not changed by this, in addition to version numbers already. You recognize an Update, so, for example, at a jump from 6.0.0 to 6.0.6.
- First of all you should have a Backup of your OwnCloud data. You back up your OwnCloud folder and the database.
- For Updates you use the pre-installed OwnCloud-Plugin "Updater". Make sure that this Plugin is also enabled.
- You go to the "Admin"page.
- Click on "Update".
- Load the page then by pressing simultaneously the keys [CTRL] and [F5].

How to install OwnCloud Upgrades manually
Upgrades are great packages, the rework OwnCloud in many areas. In addition, the version number will change with Upgrades in the rule by, for example, 5.0.18 to 6.0.0.
- Especially before Upgrades should be sure to have a Backup of your OwnCloud Installation, since such updates a number of Changes to make.
- Before you can install an Upgrade, you must OwnCloud to the latest updates. Please make sure that all current Updates are installed and the version number corresponds to the requirements.
- Download now with this command, the latest Version: wget http://download.owncloud.org/community/owncloud-latest.tar.bz2
- Also, disable all third-party applications.
- You can now delete everything from your OwnCloud installation directory, except the folders "data" and "config".
- Unpack the downloaded TAR-file in your OwnCloud directory. Alternatively, you can unzip the files elsewhere and then in your OwnCloud directory to copy.
- You can also use the following command: tar xjf owncloud-latest.tar.bz2. Your directory, should not be "hot owncloud", you must adjust the command accordingly.
- Now, set all the permissions according to your Wishes.
- At the next page request, the Upgrade is executed.
- After the Upgrade has completed, you can enable again your installed third-party applications.
- Check whether the respective developers already offer versions that are with the new Upgrade is compatible.
- Optionally install and enable this and will update you when they are pointed out.
Automatic Updates for the OwnCloud-Client enable
For the synchronization Client, you can install it on your computer, OwnCloud provides an automatic Updater. Under Windows and Mac OS X, the Updater will keep the Client always up to date. Under Linux, the automatic Updates do not work, unfortunately, but the Updater will inform you as soon as new updates are available.
- To check the Status of the Updater, open the "settings"menu.
- You can switch here to the tab "General".
- Under "Update" you can check the Updates.
- An automatic Update should fail, inform the Updater and manually Update suggest. Then, simply follow the instructions.
