Provider change: From GMail to Posteo - the preparation
First you need to prepare your GMail mailbox on the switch:
- Open GMail and navigate on the Gear at the top right of the settings.
- In the settings select the tab "forwarding and POP/IMAP".
- Here you put the point in "POP for all mail (even already downloaded) enable" (see image) and finally click on "save Changes".

You have activated the Two-step activation in to your Google account, you need to generate a so-called "application-specific password" to allow Login via Posteo:
- To do this, open the page with the settings for two-step verification and click on the tab "App-specific passwords". At the very bottom, select the Button "application-specific passwords manage".
- Here you have to enter a name for the new password (see image) and then click on "generate password". The created password will appear in a yellow box.

Then: The Posteo-collection service for the GMail Mail set up
Now you can set up in the web interface of Posteo the news collection service, to your GMail to forward mail to your new mailbox:
- Open Posteo Webmail and call the top right corner of the "settings".
- Then you left-click in the list to "E-Mail collection services" and then select "New collection service add".
- In the input mask, select under "Service" in GMail (see image). As the "E-Mail", enter your full Google Mail address.
- The password is the normal password that you use for the Google Login. Exception: you can Use the Login in two steps, you need to enter the above-generated App-specific password.
- At the top, you need to put a hook behind "collection service" enable. The setting "Delete E-Mails after the Pick up" is not recommended by Posteo, so that the forwarded Mails jamming in your GMail Inbox.
- Finally, a click on "Save" to activate the Mail-collection service.

- Wait a few minutes until the first Mails from your old GMail mailbox in the Posteo-popping Interface. Depending on the number of GMail messages, the synchronization process may take several hours.
- All existing messages are transmitted, are transmitted only new Mails to your Posteo-Mail. After three months of collection service is disabled by Posteo automatically, but can be reactivated at any time for a period of three months.
- Does the Posteo-collection service, there are two possible Workarounds: Either you check the Google account the latest activities to an "unusual activity" of a Posteo account and click on "I have these unusual activities than I originally detected", or you activate Two-step confirmationorder (as described above), an application-specific password instead of your normal Google password to use.
