SSD is hot - what to do?

Your SSD drive is too hot, it can have various causes and problems. How you can take action against it, we show you in this practice tips.

First, you should read with a Tool of your choice, the temperature of the SSD:
  1. Download the Tool "HWMonitor" to download and install it.
  2. You can start the Tool after a successful Installation.
  3. Are you looking for in the list of your SSD from the list by clicking on the small Plus ("+") on the left side.
  4. Now you see the current temperatures of the SSD.

Troubleshooting: SSD is hot

After you have read the temperature of the SSD, you can dedicate yourself to troubleshoot the problem. Temperatures up to 60°C are still within the tolerance range and are harmless. If your SSD is warmer than 60°C, there are to note the following points:
  • Turn off your Computer and remove the power cable. Do not open the casing of your PC/notebook and check if all fan are free.
  • Also, the dust often blocks the air inlets and/or fan. Also, check whether the cable to block the Zulässe the fan.
  • You can test whether the fan is functioning properly and that all connectors are seated properly.
