SSD disk defragmenting - does that make sense?

A normal HDD has a read and Write head. This always moves back and forth to find the data needed in their places. The data are always stored where there is space. The Defrag be sorted the data again.

  • Defragmenting makes the hard drive not only faster, but also increases the life time due to lower wear and tear. A SSD hard drive has such a Write and read head, not at all, defragmentation is pointless.
  • The data is stored on memory Chips, which can be much faster to retrieve. A defragmentation would arrange the data, the faster you retrieve this but still. As for the defragmentation, numerous Write operations are carried out, will wear the disk faster. Frequent Defragmenting would thus reduce the life time of the SSD.
