Kindle battery swap: instructions for battery change

The battery of the Kindle lasts only a few hours, you can replace the battery yourself. How to perform the exchange for the Kindle, Kindle Paperwhite, and the Kindle Fire, we show you in this guide. A new battery costs around 20 Euro, and the exchange is easier than you think.

  1. Turn the Kindle, you will see on the back cover. You drive with a thin, plastic Tool into the grooves of the cover.
  2. You have opened the device you will see in the center a large aperture made of metal. You remove this by Loosening the screws.
  3. The battery is connected via a ribbon cable to the Reader. Flip the lock at the end of the cable and loosen the connection.
  4. Take the plastic Tool under the glued-in battery and replace it. Then you can build the unit back together.

Kindle Fire: battery swap

  1. The Kindle Fire is a front and a back. Between the two halves you will find a thin groove.
  2. Take the plastic Tool and drive around you so gently around the Reader.
  3. The battery is only connected via a plug to the Tablet. You carefully detach the connection.
  4. Take, again, the plastic Tool to Hand and you drive it from all sides under the battery, so that the adhesive dissolves.
  5. You can then insert the new battery. This should also be glued. Not the one with a small piece of double sided tape will succeed.
