Fast SSD's
Different types of SSDs at a Glance
SSD is not the same as SSD - even if the function is a head, all our own. Here, a distinction is made between different types.
- Flash-based SSDs resemble most of the memory cards, you know, for example, of cameras. Information is stored in the Form of an electrical charge on a Floating Gate Transistor. They are characterized by a very low energy consumption, but are a little slower than SDRAM-based SSD.
- A SDRAM-based SSD uses RAM for storage. This need, in contrast to the Flash-based SSD durable power, crime and so more energy. Are you bring more speed, compared to SSD they are up to 80 times faster.
- There are also hybrids. The are combinations of a flat storage and a traditional hard drive. The advantage of this is that the Flash component, only frequently accessed data to be stored. When reading a Flash-memory is fast, Writing data is slightly slower.
The exact differences between an SSD and a Hybrid plate, also SSHD to be called, we will explain in a further practical tip.
