Hard drive on the Fritzbox to connect - so it goes

To your Fritzbox, you can connect a hard drive that is on all the devices that are connected to the Wi-Fi accessible. To do this, you need to set up the Fritzbox however, only properly. We will show you how this works.

Preparation: to USB-Fernanschluss the Fritzbox disable

So that you can manage a hard drive on the Fritzbox, you must disable the USB remote connection. If your Fritzbox is not supported the USB remote connection, you can skip this step.
  1. Call the user interface of the Fritz box and click on "home network".
  2. Select "USB devices" and then the tab "USB remote connection".
  3. Disable the item "USB-storage" and click "Apply".

Now connect the hard disk via a USB cable to the Fritzbox. Which connector you use does not matter. Now you can set up a user account for access to the hard disk:
  1. Click on "System" in the user interface of the Fritz box, and select "FRITZ!Box User".
  2. If there is no user set up, click "add user" and specify a name and a password.
  3. Click next to the user on the icon with the pen to edit the account.
  4. Here you can activate the Option "access to NAS contents" and then click on "add directory".
  5. If you want the user to access all the memory, click "All to the FRITZ!Box available memory". Alternatively, you can set "directory" to select which memory the user is allowed to access.
  6. Save the settings with "OK".

Finally, you need to set up the home network registration, so that you can access the hard drive.
  1. You switch back to "FRITZ!Box user" in the menu "System".
  2. Under "registration in the home network," select the Option "login with FRITZ!Box user name and password".
  3. Alternatively, If multiple different users to be accessing the hard drive, click "login with the FRITZ!Box password" and set any password for all users.
  4. Now click in the left menu on the "home network" and select the "storage (NAS)".
  5. Here you can see the connected USB storage. Enable the hard drive by putting in the first column of the table, a check mark.
