External hard drive won't format - you need to do
Often a Reading or writing error in the hard disk. Proceed therefore as follows:
- You go to the "control panel".
- Open the "administrative tools".
- Here, select the "computer management".
- In the menu on the left select "disk management" under "storage". You will get an Overview of all disks connected to the PC.
- You are looking for the external hard drive and click with the right mouse button.
- In the context menu select "volume delete". You will confirm in the next window with "Yes".
- After a successful deletion, you can format the hard disk.
