Parameter to Set the equalizer
An Equalizer is a Filter for the tone control. With an Equalizer you can make a targeted frequency ranges to be louder or quieter, the loudness, i.e. the perceived volume of the entire spectrum, to align. You will be working with the following three parameters:
- Gain: This setting specifies by how much decibels (dB) in a frequency range louder or quieter it is.
- Center frequency (Center Frequency): This is the frequency that is amplified the most by the Equalizer or weakened.
- Filter quality (Q-Factor): Indicates the steepness of the filter curve and thus the area around the center frequency that is to be manipulated. The larger the Q factor, the narrower the affected frequency range.
Sound control for Listening at home set
Professional music is already mixed well, and only needs a little readjustment due to EQ your home system.
- The tendency of the sound will be warmer, if you make low frequencies below 160 Hz louder.
- A bright, brilliant sound is created when you tighten the heights, so the area above about 7 kHz.
- Louder, more defined and more understandable sounds, if you increase you there, where the human ear is most sensitive: In the Middle, between approximately 2 and 4 kHz.
- Set the Equalizer for your speakers and listening position. Due to room modes, i.e. standing waves between room walls, floor and ceiling, the sound in good rooms, strong of the Position of the speaker and of the listener-dependent.
- Set the Equalizer at the best with music, with the help of which you are very familiar with. The most important is, finally, that your favorite music sounds good.
- Press the Bass Boost only with quieter background music: The Bass-Boost button, you to many Hi-Fi systems to find, is meant, at quiet music levels from 40 to 60 dB the Bass hochzupegeln. Since the threshold of audibility in the Bass area is quite high, would otherwise be perceived only MIDs and highs but no Bass.
- In addition, practice the tips we will show you how to use the frequency response of the speakers in the measure, speaker calibration, your power amplifier is optimally set, and your Surround speakers properly set up, your enjoyment of music to maximize.

Equalizer in the mix to set properly
The Equalizer is recorded and synthetically generated music, an indispensable assistant to the optimal mix. You are guided to common settings and change the settings so that they suit you exactly. Always observe the following rules:
- One important rule: What is gone is gone! To take the full range of instruments and vocals, and sinks later, the Amplitude of unwanted frequency bands.
- Most of the voices and instruments have a well-tuned sound. You overdo it with the Equalizer settings only if you want to achieve a special effect. Lift otherwise, the Amplitude of individual frequency ranges only up to +- 10 dB.
- If there are many broadband instruments such as electric guitar, strings, and electric Bass play at the same time, you should reduce slightly frequency-offset from each other in areas, or strengthen, to achieve a greater separation.
- Lists with the best settings for common instruments, such as Drums, guitar, E-Bass, piano, and vocals, you will find, for example, sengpiel, Chairman audio or Duophonic.
