PSP: CFW in front of the Homebrew install
Only a few Homebrews, you can install directly to the PSP. Most of the Homebrews only run with a so-called Custom Firmware (CFW). This is a slightly modified Firmware that opens up the PSP for Homebrews.
- There are several different CFWs for the PSP. In this guide, we use the ProUpdate CFW on all the systems running. Access to any other CFW, you must check out first whether this is compatible with your console.
- To install a CFW on the PSP, you will need the latest Firmware 6.60. This is not the case, perform a Firmware Update by.
- Then connect your PSP via USB cable to the PC and open the folder of the PSP.
- In the folder "GAME" now copy the three folders from the downloaded ZIP-file and the ProUpdate CFW.
- Disconnect the PSP from the PC and select in the menu of the PSP the Memory Stick.
- You choose here for the "Pro Update" and confirm the process.
- Then the PSP restarts, the Custom Firmware will be installed on. This process can take some time.

In the case of the Homebrews for the PSP, which is mostly games, sometimes to small programs. On the Homebrews you PSP not only all the regular games, but also Games like Minecraft and Flappy Bird, that are not actually for the PSP available.
- On the website QJ.net you will find a large selection of Homebrews for the PSP. All Downloads are free of charge.
- Open the downloaded. ZIP or. RAR file and extract the contained folder as in the instructions above in the folder "GAME" on the PSP.
- You can then start the Homebrew as normal games and applications from the menu of the memory stick.
