In the case of multiple-scale users of Windows XP requires at the Start a password. You can log on a user to bypass automatically.

Automatic XP logon via Registry

You can automate the login process, via Registry entry.
  1. To Start the registry editor go to "Start | Run", type in "regedit" and click "OK". You navigate to the key "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software \Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\ Winlogon".
  2. With a double click you open the entry "AltDefaultUserName" and enter as value the name of a user account for automatic login.
  3. Via "edit | New | string" create the entry "autoadminlogon". Double-click on it and set the value to "1".
  4. Then, you generate the string "DefaultPassword" and passed as "value" the password of the user account.
If other people have access to your computer, the automatic login is a security risk. You should use the function only as long as necessary and then turn it off again by setting the value to "0". If you hold down the system start the empty button, Windows ignores the auto login and you can log in to another user account.
