More solutions to a defective Windows Installer
Problems with the Windows Installer can be caused by viruses or incorrect registry entries. To fix these errors, follow these steps:
- The Windows Installer may be disabled or corrupted by a virus. Run a virus scan with at least one up-to-date anti-virus program .
- Also, run an online virus scan with Bitdefender or ESET .
- If a virus scanner has found what you are looking for, remove the virus and infected files.
- Navigate to "C:WINDOWSsystem32" and locate the "msiexec.exe" file. If this file is 0 bytes, delete it.
- Reinstall the Windows Installer .
