In Windows 10 you can find in the Explorer the new to quickly access your most frequently used data. How to disable this, or customize to your Liking, we can tell you in this article.

The new quick access is built on Windows 10 from three Parts: your most frequently used folders, manually pinned document and the recently accessed files. You want to keep your pinned folders, you can also hide only the two new categories:
  1. Start the file Explorer in Windows 10 with the key combination [Windows] + [E].
  2. At the top you switch to the tab "view" and click on "options".
  3. In the privacy section, remove the check mark for "Recently used files in quick access and show frequently used folders in quick access view".
  4. Save your settings finally on "OK".

You want to also remove your pinned folder, you need to "dig deeper" into the System:
  1. First, make a that the Explorer with the job instead of the quick access starts. Otherwise, it comes later to an error message.
  2. Then press the key combination [Windows] + [R] and type the command "regedit".
  3. Confirm the query of the user account control with "Yes".
  4. In the registry editor, navigate to the path "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{679f85cb-0220-4080-b29b-5540cc05aab6}\ShellFolder". The key "shell folder does not exist" click the mouse button to the previous folder and select "New > key". As a name, then enter "shell folder".
  5. Click with the right mouse button on the key "shell folders" and select the Option "permissions".
  6. In the list, click on "administrators" and check the bottom of the "full access". This step you repeat for the entry "user". Save the settings with "OK".
  7. Now click with the right mouse button on a blank area of the right-hand side and select "New" > "DWORD-value (32-Bit)". As the name you give to "Attributes" and value "a0600000". This entry should exist in them already, click it twice and change the value.
  8. Then, you start the task Manager with the key combination [Ctrl] + [Shift] + [Esc].
  9. Here you find the Task "Windows Explorer" and click on the bottom right on "restart". The quick-access disappeared.
