VPN set up - the preparation
A VPN connection in Windows 7, you need to create a new network.
- Click on the bottom right in the taskbar on the network icon. There is a small window, in which you have a Link to the "network and sharing center" you can find open open.
- Alternatively, you can reach the destination with a click on the Start Button and on the "control panel". From there select the item "network and Internet" and "network and sharing center".
- Under your current network, click the blue Link "add a New connection or network set up". It is a small window in which you set up in the second step, the VPN connection opens.

- Select the item "connect to a workplace" and click "Next".
- Here, select the Option "Internet connection (VPN)".
- Now you need the access address of the VPN. This is usually a Server address in the Form of "abc.VPN-Anbieter.de" or an IP address in the Form of "123.45.67.8". This you know in principle, on the Website of your VPN provider.
- The Whole, you can type in the line below with a name. Optionally, you can activate one of the options below. Then click on "Next".
- Now enter the user name and password for your VPN access in the provided fields. Select the Option "save This password" if you do not want to enter your password before each connection. Then click "Connect".
- It can now take several seconds, until the VPN connection is made. You close the process the window.
Step 3: VPN connection disconnect and connect
At the latest after the next restart of the computer, you will notice whether the VPN connection is established automatically or not. In both cases, you can manually disconnect or connect to.
- You can either click the network and sharing center at the top right on "connect or disconnect", or in the bottom right in the taskbar on the network icon. In both cases, a small window opens.
- Click on the VPN connection, click either the Button "Connect" or "Disconnect".
- About "Disconnect" the connection is cancelled immediately on "Connect" a new window appears, in which you need to again log in, then click on "Connect".
