If you want to drive a PC remotely shutdown, you need no additional software. Windows has all the necessary Features on Board - you just have to activate. We will show you how this works.

PC remotely shutdown: requirements

To be able to a PC with a remote control, both devices must be on the same network, for example, in the home network. We will show you in a separate practice tips on how to make a network under Windows 7 , and Windows 8 set up.

Preparation: Shutdown-Option to enable

The Shutdown Option is disabled on Windows machines by default. You can turn it on but in just a few steps.
  • Open "Run" with the key combination Windows key+R on the Computer you want to remote control.
  • Enter gpedit.msc and press Enter to confirm.
  • Click in the new window, click "computer configuration", then "Windows settings" and select "security settings".
  • Here, select "Local policies" -> "user rights assignment" and double click "Force shutdown from a remote system".
  • Now, click on "add user or group" and add the user "Everyone".
  • Confirm with "OK" in all dialog Windows and restart the PC.
