AMI, Phoenix, Award BIOS with password protect
- Start your Computer and press from now on, up to the point where Windows starts always on the button "Del", "F1", "F2", "F8" or "F10" to start the BIOS.
- Now navigate with the right arrow to the "Security" tab, which is located at the top right of the screen.
- Click on the down arrow key until you reach the point of "Change Supervisor Password" or "Change User Password". With the "Supervisor Password" is only protected access to the BIOS, on the "User Password" you can protect the whole PC with a password.
- Select one of the two options, press "Enter" and enter a password. Avoid umlauts in this case, since the English BIOS could have problems. Then click "Enter". Repeat the password and press "Enter".
- You have set a "User Password" that should be requested when you Start the computer, you need to provide, depending on the BIOS, under the Option "Password on boot" or "Password Check" is set to "Enabled" or "Always".
- To navigate to the top of the tab "Exit" and select "Exit Saving Changes". Confirm the query with "OK".
