So you can, in the future, use Features such as movie sheets, or Custom Themes, you need only a USB-Stick and the matching Custom Firmware:
- You can format your USB Stick with FAT. It's fast and easy with Windows-Board resources, select click with the right mouse button on your disk, and then "Format". More help can you find in this practical tip.
- Now you can download the latest Custom Firmware from THIS Website. For the WDTV Live access to this Firmware.
- Unzip the file you downloaded with a Tool like 7-Zip.
- You will have to copy the folder contents to your formatted USB-Stick. The folder structure should now look as in the Screenshot.
- Now check the version number of your current official Firmware. You need to start your WDTV and navigate to "settings" > "system settings" > "Info". There you will find your current Firmware number, you need to make a note of.
- Open the file "wdtv.ver" on your USB-Stick. The version number of your WDTV should be higher than the registered, you should change the number to any higher number. For example, change the number "VERSION='1.02.21.WDLXTV_LIVE-0.4.2.0'" to "VERSION='1.40.21.WDLXTV_LIVE-0.4.2.0'". Otherwise, your device thinks that the current Firmware is newer than your Custom Firmware on the Stick. The seemingly lower numbers would ignore the WDTV and no start Update.
