Not a bird, not a plane, not a man: the first Supergirl appeared in the Trailer
Six whole minutes, CBS donated to Superman's present less well-known cousin, Kara Zor-El (Melissa Benoist, best known from Glee) on the way to their own TV series.
- The Trailer shows a montage of Kara's transformation from a more or less normal people with normal problems, and superhuman abilities to the heroine Supergirl.
- Like Superman, she is one of the few Survivors of a distant planet and on earth has incredible abilities, not use them for the Good.

While Superman in this world is much like our own - already known worldwide, and thus certain expectations created, is Kara at the beginning of the series, a blank slate. Kara's Origin story contains pretty much everything that is expected in the case of new super hero:
- Problems in Control of their own super-powers, the need to show the world that conflicts with critical military and full-on Action in the fight against malicious beings.
- The series already holds in the Trailer more or less to the Comic template, but also less obvious references in the Luggage and pushes old discussions - for example about the name, the costume, and, of course, the Cape.
