Why is Flash insecure?
The Flash Player was developed in the 90s by Macromedia. In 2005, Adobe bought the company and thus also the Flash Player.
- The Flash Player is not a standalone program but a Plug-In for the Browser. This extension ensures that Flash content such as Videos or animations running in the Browser.
- For scammers, it has become, unfortunately, very easy to use the Flash Player as a front door to your PC. You can open a web page with a manipulated Flash content, that may be all that is needed for the Transmission of Malware or espionage.
- The reason for this uncertainty of the Flash Player, whose complexity is well. Flash provides a number of functions and interfaces that serve as the middle man between website and Browser. Thus, the attack surface is very large.
- It is unclear whether Flash was already full of holes, and a reboot for a secure Flash would be needed, or whether Adobe was not the development of Flash is so important.
