Ubuntu: show Hidden files under Linux

In this practical tip we show you how you can view under Ubuntu hidden files. Similar as in the case of Windows, you should make this only visible when you are looking for a specific File, and to the rest of the time hiding.

To display or hide hidden files in Ubuntu

You want to delete your Cache or to a specific hidden file, you will learn in the following steps, as you can see, under Ubuntu, the Files.
  1. Open it in the Filemanager the folder where the hidden files are located.
  2. Press simultaneously the keys [Ctrl] + [H].
  3. Alternatively, you can select in the top menu bar "view" > "show Hidden files".
  4. You want to undo those Changes, repeat step 2 and step 3.
