Thunderbird: filters, create and apply
- You can pre-create a folder in your Inbox. These you can use to move the filtered E-Mails there. Click by right-clicking on the Inbox, you want to filter. In the opened menu, select "New folder" and type in a name.
- In Thunderbird, select the three superimposed lines of the existing Icon in the top right (see image gallery). If the Icon is not in your Thunderbird available, is probably the main toolbar is not enabled. You enable it via "view" >"toolbars" and check "main toolbar".
- After you have clicked on the application menu Icon, select "Filter" -> "Filter...".
- The Filter window opens. Enter in "Filter for" E-Mail account that you want to filter. Then click "New".
- In the window "edit Filter" under "Filter Name" is a name for your Filter. You decide whether you want to run the Filter manually, or retrieve messages automatically. Create a "condition" by clicking on the fields in the first white box. A condition is contains, for example, "subject","", "CHIP". If you want to build more conditions, click the "+" next to the condition. You can decide whether all the conditions to be met, at least one, or none.
- In the box below "actions" decide what should happen with the gefilte recycled news. An example action is, for example, to Move in a particular folder. Here, for example, the folder that you have pre-created.
- Finally, click "OK". The Filter was created.
- You can apply the Filter directly. Under "Selected Filter(s) you are applying to" choose "Inbox". To do this, click on "run Now".
