Not only in Germany, but even in Europe, SAP SE is the largest software manufacturer.
- On 1. April 1972 founded by five former IBM employees in a new company. It is the software company "SAP system analysis and program development". The founders at the time, Dietmar Hopp, Hasso Plattner, Klaus Tschira, Claus Wellenreuther and Hans were-Werner Hector.
- The current CEO, Bill McDermott leads the company since 21. May 2014. The headquarters of SAP is located in Walldorf in Baden-Württemberg.
- SAP employs of 87,800 people in over 130 countries. The annual turnover was in the year of 2016 22,06 billion euros.
- The success of SAP is based on very sophisticated Software for the management of all processes within a company. The Palette ranges from accounting, purchasing, and human resources management. Worldwide, Microsoft has in the area of Software clearly ahead:
- In 1975, founded Bill Gates , the company Microsoft, the world's largest software company. The current CEO in February 2014, Satya Nadella.
- Microsoft has a worldwide 114.074 employees (as 30.06.2016). The registered office of the company is located in the United States, in Redmond. Worldwide, Microsoft has 119 subsidiaries.
- The annual turnover amounted in financial year 2017 (June 2016 to June 2017) 89,95 billion dollars. For comparison: BMW came in 2016, with a turnover of around 94 billion euros (about 110 billion U.S. dollars).
