Automatic game Updates in Steam to disable
An Option to turn off automatic Updates for all games, there isn't. However, you can Steam configure Updates available only be loaded when the game start:
- Click in Steam, right-click a game in your list and select "properties".
- Go to the tab: "Updates". There is the item "Automatic Updates" is located. Click and hold on the "This game always up to date" and then select "This game only at the Start of the game automatically update". Then click "Close".

As already mentioned, you can turn off the automatic Updates as a rule. You want to prevent, however, any updates to your games, you can use Steam in Offline mode. But keep in mind that not all functions are available and some games may not work at all:
- Click in the menu bar, click "Steam" and then "go Offline...".
- The note window, you can confirm with "In the Offline mode, restart."
