To enter special characters on the symbols menu in Word:
- You Open Word.
- Click in the menu bar item "Insert".
- Then select the word "Symbol" and then click "More symbols".
- In Microsoft Word 2010, the corresponding Block is illustrated on the far right of the ribbon by a Ω.
- Here, you can now select in the top tab, between "symbols" and "special characters".
- To insert a special character, click on the corresponding icon and confirm your selection, then "Paste".
- When you click in the menu on "Insert" then "Symbol" and "Additional icons", here you can see the key combinations of the respective symbols.
- If you now switch to "special characters", you can see the respective key combinations.
- A special character is a new keyboard shortcut to assign, click in the window on "key combination".
- There you can define for frequently used symbols, then, according to the new Shortcuts.
Special characters in Word using the key combination of insert:
- If you have all the possible symbols by using a key combination want to insert, you can use the ASCII Code table.
- There you can look up the ASCII codes for Greek letters, arrow and branch symbols, or phonetic symbols-letters.
