If you want to edit scanned documents, you need a corresponding program. We will show you how to proceed.

Documents with "ABBYY" edit

"ABBYY FineReader" is a special program for text recognition. The full version costs about 130 Euro. A trial version for 30 days, but there is a free-of-charge.
  1. Open the "ABBYY FineReader".
  2. Click on the button "Open" and select your scanned document.
  3. The document will be automatically read in, and in the right window "translated".
  4. After the procedure, you can repair manually for any mistakes.
  5. Finally, click on the "Save" button. By default, the document is saved as a DOCX file. You can change the Format by clicking on the small arrow to the save button.
  6. Now open the saved document with Word and then edit it as desired.
  7. A purchase of the full version is worth it, if you need to run such applications on a regular basis. For unique applications, you can access to the test version. This is valid for 30 days and can handle a maximum of 100 documents.

"Free OCR to Word" is a free program. You don't pay attention, however, during Installation, that you agree to install additional programs.
  1. You can open "Free OCR to Word".
  2. Click on the "Open"button.
  3. Select the scanned document you want to convert.
  4. Then click on the magic wand icon.
  5. Your Text will now be displayed in the right window. There, you can make last minute Changes.
  6. Finally, click on "Save Text" and select the location.
  7. The file is saved as a. TXT file. You can open it with the Editor.
  8. Now you can highlight the Text in a Word document.
