Picasa under Ubuntu use - so it goes

Picasa is an image Manager from Google. How you can use Picasa under Ubuntu, you will learn in this practical tip.

Ubuntu: Picasa install and start

To be able to Picasa under Ubuntu, you must first install "Wine" and then Picasa will start. To do this, proceed as follows:
  1. Start Ubuntu with [CTRL]+[ALT]+[T] first in a new Terminal.
  2. Then install Wine with the command "sudo apt-get install wine".
  3. After you have "Wine" installed, you need to then Picasa download.
  4. If you have saved Picasa, by default, in the Download folder, you can install it with the command "wine ~/downloads/picasa39-setup.exe". Otherwise, you need to adjust the path to the file.
  5. Now click on "Accept" and select a destination directory for the Installation.
  6. With a click on "Install" Picasa installed on your System.
  7. To start Picasa, you need to do is simply execute a double click on the created desktop icon.
