- Open the iTunes preferences. To do this, click on your Mac, click the menu "iTunes" on a PC on the "edit" menu. Then select the "settings" button.

- On your Mac, open the "file" menu or on your PC the "file" menu. Under the menu item "create New Version" (Mac) or "New working-copy" (Windows) you can convert your music file into a previously set Format.
- The original Version you get. If you no longer wish to use it at all, you can delete this. Check beforehand the quality of the new Audio Tracks.

- Select the file menu (Mac) or file (Windows).
- Select "New create working copy" (Windows) or "create New Version" (Mac).
- Press the alt key (Mac) or shift key (Windows) and hold it down. For example, click "convert to AAC" if you have previously selected AAC as the conversion Format.
- Now you can choose which music Files you want to import and convert. Then click on "Open".
Conversion and music quality
- From a compressed to uncompressed file format, no quality there is likely to be a loss. However, there may be a reduction in the quality, if you want to convert files in a compressed Format. If the output format is not, or is compressed, does not matter.
- "Lossy formats" to reduce the storage space of your iTunes songs strong, but can also affect the quality of your music collection.
- If you only have the compressed track, you can make any file, which has the original sound quality.
