Firefox: Automatic Downloads disable so it works

You do not want a Download in Firefox automatically starts, you can do this - at least partially - off. In this guide we will explain how this works.

Automatically Download files in Firefox restrict

  1. Select Firefox , the three horizontally arranged menu lines on the right-hand side.
  2. In the menu you then click on "settings" and under the "General" tab then on "Downloads".
  3. You set it to "ask Every Time where to save a file".
  4. The new settings are stored directly. A browser restart is not necessary.
  5. A small caveat there, however. Firefox has already an entry in the Download file in the "Temp"directory to. Completely automatic Downloading of files is not switched off, unfortunately.

With the Firefox Add-On "DownThemAll" can you set exactly which files when downloaded to. This tip applies to Firefox 38.
