Chrome OS is missing or corrupt - problem solving

Chrome OS missing/corrupted operating system re-install

Reinstalling via a recovery process means that all your data will be deleted on the hard drive:
  1. As soon as you are missing the error message "Chrome OS is damaged" you need to reboot your Chromebook. Press and hold the Power Button down and turn on your device again.
  2. Should the error message still appear, you should have a create recovery disc.
  3. You have created the recovery media, plug the USB Stick or SD card into your Chromebook.
  4. The Installation of Chrome OS will now be carried out automatically. Remove the USB Stick or the SD card after Installation.
  5. Your Chromebook will now reboot and the problem is fixed.
  • Tip: If you don't want to, you do not need to install Chrome OS on your Chromebook. Instead, you can, for example, the Linux operating system Ubuntu install.
