T-Online: SSL set encryption in Outlook
How to encrypt your Outlook 2010 account, we will tell you here. In the images gallery you can use the instructions step by step.
- You start Outlook 2010 and click on file - information in the account settings.
- Select from the list to your mailbox and click the Change button.
- Here you need to change the server information. How to do this, read in the next paragraph.
Server information in Outlook 2010
T-Online provides for the retrieval of E-mail, different Inbox server. Before you enable SSL, you can check which Server you are using and set the correct outgoing server. The following is an Overview of the configurations:
- Use popmail.t-online.de as the incoming server, please change the outgoing mail server in smtpmail.t-online.de.
- Use pop.t-online.de as the incoming server, please change the incoming mail server securepop.t-online.de and the outgoing mail server in securesmtp.t-online.de.
- Use imapmail.t-online.de or imap.t-online.de as the incoming server, please change the outgoing mail server in smtpmail.t-online.de.
- Use securepop.t-online.de or secureimap.t-online.de as the incoming mail server, no Changes are necessary because the encryption is already activated.
More settings for SSL encryption
After you have tested your incoming and outgoing mail server, click on the button "More settings" and go to the "Advanced" tab. There, enter the following:
- Incoming mail server (POP3): 995 and incoming mail server (IMAP): 993
- Outgoing mail server (SMTP): 465
- Place a check mark in "this Server requires an encrypted connection (SSL)"
- Connection type: SSL

Completion and Test of the configuration
Now switch back to the tab "outgoing mail server":
- Check the box "my outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication".
- Select the setting "use Same settings as my incoming mail server" and confirm with "OK".
- With a click on "Next" to test your configuration and exit the wizard with "Finish". The SSL encryption, your account is now active.
