When can I use my laptop or tablet on the flight?

In principle, you can use your laptop or tablet during the flight as long as your device does not weigh more than a kilo. This is particularly pleasant on long flights as it is an ideal way to pass the time or do some work. However, you must follow a few rules to avoid problems with the flight staff.

  • The transmission function of all electronic devices must be switched off during the entire flight. Almost all devices have a so-called flight mode . If there is no flight mode, the device must be switched off completely.
  • During the journey on the taxiway, take-off and landing of the aircraft, the devices must be stowed in hand luggage and switched off for safety reasons. As soon as the light for the belt goes out, you can also take out your device again.
  • Please note: In individual cases, the captain may order that electronic devices must be switched off and stowed away. However, this rarely happens.
