Saving bees - why its so important
As small as bees are, they are extremely important for nature:
- The little bees not only ensure that we can enjoy sweet honey . They ensure that we are fed: around a third of our food is directly dependent on bees.
- You also ensure diversity in nature. Many plants would disappear if there were no more bees.
- Monotonous agricultural landscapes, the use of insecticides, climate change - there are many causes for the death of bees, which is now clearly visible. Fewer and fewer of the hard-working workers are buzzing and humming in Germany.
For the sake of the bees, don’t use poison
Avoid using insecticides or weed killers in the garden.
- Instead, use natural enemies to control pests. These include, for example, ladybirds and parasitic wasps. Also fight aphids them naturally.
- When purchasing the plants, you should make sure that they have not been treated with pesticides or insecticides.
- By choosing your food you also have an influence and can save bees in the long term. Buy organic vegetables and fruits . In conventional agriculture, monocultures and the use of pesticides are the norm. Also pay attention to the stickers on fruits and vegetables .
- You dont have to give up honey completely, but you should also use organic honey . This means you know that no chemical bee medications were used in production and that the pollen does not come from genetically modified plants.
As a rule, bees dont harm people unless they feel threatened. Should a bee sting occur, you should act quickly.
