Word: file in two places at once to save

You want to create a security copy of the Word document, you must save the file in two places at once. Neither Windows nor Mac will bring this functionality. In this practical tip we will provide you with a free Tool, which allows you to simultaneously save a file to two different locations.

Step 1: Word Add-In to simultaneously Save a file in two places set up

  1. Download the free Great,"Smart Tools Auto Backup for Microsoft Word" to download and install this.
  2. During the Installation you will be prompted for a registration code request. By this step, there are no hidden costs. You only need to specify your name and E-Mail address. On this you get sent the valid Code.
  3. Then enter in the setup field of your E-Mail address to which you have to get the Code skillful, as well as the Code (see image).
  4. Confirm with "Next".
  5. Select in the next step, your Version of Word and click as long as "Next" until the Installation is completed.

Step 2: the location of the Backup file of the Word document select

  1. After you have installed "Smart Tools Auto Backup for Word", open Word.
  2. Above in the tabs of the Smart Tools is now to the right "". Click on it and then select "options".
  3. Now the Options window opens for the Tool.
  4. Under the tab "Backups", you can configure the location for the Backup.
  5. You can download it directly to your Dropbox, OneDrive or GDrive. You can also save the Backup to your hard drive, external hard drive or a USB Stick.
  6. If you want to create the Backup on the hard drive or a USB Stick, just click right on the folder with the green arrow (see image).
  7. Then, select the desired path. In our example, we have selected the drive "G" (USB-Stick).
  8. Finally, click the "Close"Button.

Step 3: Word file automatically to the second storage location to store

  • Now you can work freely with the Word.
  • If you save the Word document manually, it is automatically a one-to-One Backup will be created at the location you previously in 2. Step have set.
  • In addition, a Signal tone sounds when the Backup is successfully created.
