With the function of the T-Test, you can demonstrate in Excel the statistics. We will show you in this practice tip, as the function can use.

T-Test in Excel use – so it works

You can use this function in Excel to check whether two random samples from two Populations with the same mean are derived:
  • The basic formula is: "TTEST(array1;array2;pages;type)". You will have to copy this in any field of your Excel document.
  • As "Matrix1" is referred to the first Dataset, "array2" thus refers to the second Dataset. In the example (see image) is the Matrix1 about "A2:A10".
  • The Variable "pages" determines the number of the end faces. A "1" is in the cell, the single-sided distribution will be used, in the use of "2" the two-sided distribution.
  • The "type" indicates the type of test is to be applied. If in each cell the value "1" is applied, the Test is "Paired".
  • It is, however, used a "2" samples of the Test "Two-sample equal variance (Homoscedastic)" is applied.
  • You can also specify a "3". In this case, the Test samples, "the Two-sample, unequal variance (Heteroscedastic)" is applied.
  • Enter the name of the cell in which the respective content is, for example, A1 for Matrix1.
  • In our picture (see Right), you can find an example for better understanding.
