Function for today's date in Excel
With the function "=TODAY()" Excel creates the current date. If you need an older or a future date, you can extend the day by "+x" or "-x". This is illustrated in the Following example, the 13.03.2013:
- Enter the day "=TODAY ()": It is the date 13.03.2013 appears. When you save the document and open it at a later date, is in the cell the current day's date.
- In order to obtain the date of the previous day, you can extend the function to "-1". The formula -1 changed to "=TODAY ()". Now Excel is the 12.03.2013. As with the basic function, Excel will update the date automatically: Open a document on another day, Excel calculates the date of the previous day. With higher Numbers you get a far back date.
