Excel: today's date display

Invoices and other documents you create with Excel, you often need the date of today. With a simple function for Excel, creates today's date and update it later automatically.

Function for today's date in Excel

With the function "=TODAY()" Excel creates the current date. If you need an older or a future date, you can extend the day by "+x" or "-x". This is illustrated in the Following example, the 13.03.2013:
  1. Enter the day "=TODAY ()": It is the date 13.03.2013 appears. When you save the document and open it at a later date, is in the cell the current day's date.
  2. In order to obtain the date of the previous day, you can extend the function to "-1". The formula -1 changed to "=TODAY ()". Now Excel is the 12.03.2013. As with the basic function, Excel will update the date automatically: Open a document on another day, Excel calculates the date of the previous day. With higher Numbers you get a far back date.
Date Function Today
The guide refers to Microsoft Excel 2010 under Windows 7. Under Windows Vista and Windows 8, as well as the MS Office versions 2007 and 2013 will add the today's date but in the same way.
