In the following example, we will perform the partial-sum calculation on the basis of an example. We sum up the individual amounts from a quarter, and create for each month a Subtotal.
  1. First, we create our table. Here all the values are in a row. After every fourth entry of a partial sum is calculated at the end of the entire sum (see picture).
  2. For the first part of the sum, we need the command "=SUBTOTAL(9;C5:C8)". Hereby, the partial result of the fields C5 to C8 is calculated. The 9 stands for the Summing up. This command can now be performed for all the sub-totals.
  3. For the total sum, we have the command "=SUBTOTAL(9;C5:C19)" is used. So all the Numbers are added together, the subtotals, however, are skipped.
