Quartiles and Quintiles in Excel to determine how to
- Select the field in which you want the quartile or quintile to determine.
- You write in the top box for formulas with an equal sign and type "QUANTILE". The function is proposed to you now.
- Type as the first Argument in the parentheses are the values of the area to be taken into account in the quartile determination.
- The second Argument is separated by a semicolon, and shows the position of that quartile it should be: you Want to, for example, the 3. Quartile to calculate, enter "=QUARTILE(...;3)". The result indicates, how much percent of the values are below 75 percent.

A function for percentiles, there is not in Excel. Instead, you have to expect a lot of times the quartiles or Quintiles:
- You want to, for example, the 25. Percentile to calculate, enter "=QUARTILE(...;1)".
- For the 5. Percentile, enter the PERCENTILE corresponding to "=(...; 0,2)", for the 1. Percentile "=QUANTILE(...;0,4)".
