Keychain with Mac OS X Lion use
The keychain is a little helper in the Mac, which remembers your passwords and user names automatically and you can then type in for you. Each entry is a virtual key.
- Each user in OS X is when you Log in from the System's own keyring.
- In the utility "keychain access", you can view all of the virtual keys and manage.
- You can also put personal notes such as, for example, credit card numbers, or personal identification number (PIN) for a Bank account. To do this, select the keychain "storage" and then "New secure note".
iCloud keychain to sync between Mac and iDevice
With iCloud keychain, your keys will be synced via iCloud and you will no longer need to remember your log-in data.
- For iCloud keychain, you need an iPhone, iPad, or iPod with iOS 7 and a Mac with OS X Mavericks.
- In the case of new registrations, the keychain can automatically generate a complex password. This is not you need to remember, because it is stored in the keychain and automatically on all your devices is entered.
- Alternatively, the keyring can be stored on the Apple servers. Then you can restore the keychain again, if you lose your devices.
- The data is protected across all devices during the Transmission and in the Cloud at any time by a professional 256‑Bit AES encryption.
- On the iDevice, you can activate the keychain under "settings" -> "iCloud" -> "keychain".
