Your Mac hard drive, you can format it with Apple's own "disk utility". This only applies to hard drives and partitions on which the operating system is installed. We will show you how to do it.
Hard drive to the Mac and MacBook to format
In just a few steps, you delete a hard drive on the Mac. For this, you use the disk utility from Apple, where you can see all disks and partitions. Note, however, that formatting will delete all the data.
You can open the Spotlight search in the menu bar at the top right, by clicking on the magnifying glass icon or the Shortcut cmd + spacebar. Here, you enter the keyword "disk utility". Select the first result.
In the new window you will see links to all of the hard drives listed (See image). Now select the hard drive to erase from.
Then, click in the right pane of the window, click the tab "Delete".
Now you can decide for a Format (in OS X, Mac OS Extended (Journaled) is recommended) and a name for the disk or Partition assigned. Click on the button "Delete...", starts the formatting. This can take a while depending on the size of the hard drive some time.
