Mac: forgot password - what to do?

You have forgotten your password under Mac OS, you can reset it. How this works, we will show you in this guide.

MacOS: forgot password - you can do

On the Mac, to reset your password, you will need an Administrator Account on your Mac, you know the password.
  1. Log in with the Administrator Account.
  2. Enter "user & groups" in the spot light of your Mac a search.
  3. Click the lock in the lower left corner of the window to allow Changes to your Mac. In the opened window your administrator password.
  4. You can now select the locked user and password, press change.
  5. Enter in the following window, a new password and confirm it. Now the password has been changed.
  6. Note: this operation only on your own Account and never with a stranger.
