SIM card for Vietnam: what you should know
SIM cards are to get in Vietnam easy to use. The following, you should keep in mind:
- In Vietnam, there are four large mobile operators: Mobifone, Viettel, Vinaphone, Vietnamobile. The largest provider Mobifone has the best network coverage. You are not in the most remote areas, to cope with all the providers well.
- A SIM card, you get in big cities in the official Shops of the mobile operator. For the registration you only need an ID card. In rural regions, you can find the SIM card in almost any Kiosk. There is a registration is not necessary. The desired balance is charged directly from the seller, and the desired package is booked.
- The prices are in comparison to Germany, much cheaper. 3 GB data volume you get for 200,000 Dong, about 7.50 Euro. 8 GB for about 500,000 Dong. For the purchase of the SIM card between 50,000 and 150,000 Dong will be due.

If you want to be prior to departure with a suitable SIM card equipped for your vacation, there are several possibilities.
- The cheapest price you will get when you buy the SIM card only at the Kiosk. You want to be equipped in advance, you can order the SIM card but also in Germany and activate it. The prices are much higher.
- In the case of Prepaid-Global, you will receive a SIM-card with 1 GB data volume for around 30 Euro. If required you can book additional packages, such as a telephone, a Flat-rate to do so. Attractive prices you can find on Ebay. Here there are several services offered by the various mobile service providers.
