iOS 7: use Windows printer via Airprint

With a Windows printer you can also print without a problem under iOS7 via Airprint. In this practice tip, you need to read how to do this.

1. Step: Airprint Activator install and configure

First, configure the airprint activator:

Download of the "AirPrint Activator for Windows" and install it.
After Installation, start the Tool as Administrator by right-clicking with a right-click on the application and "run As Administrator".
Open the "control panel" "Windows Firewall" and select "allow a program through Windows Firewall".
On the left, select the Option "Inbound rules" and then select "New rule".
Click the Option "program" and click "Next".
You are looking for the "AirPrint.exe". You can find this normally under the "C:\AirPrint". Confirm with a click on the "Next"Button.
Set that the connection is allowed. Next, you can change when this rule enters into force. The default settings you can leave, however, so. Give this rule a name and an optional description. With a click on "Finish" to save the settings.
As a next step, you need to switch the Ports 9100 (TCP), 631 (TCP) and 5353 (UDP) in the Windows Firewall. Click on the button "New rule" and then "Ports". Let the Ports be able to communicate and give the rule a name. Save your settings with a click on "Finish".

You can also print via Airprint, you must share the printer on the network. To do this, go into the "control panel" and then "devices and printers".
Click with the right mouse button on the desired printer and select "printer properties". Switch to the Tab "sharing" and check "share this printer" and "print job reprocessing on client computers". With a click on "OK" the settings will be applied.
To use AirPlay you must also iTunes on your Windows machine and install.
