What means LAN?
- The abbreviation LAN stands for Local Area Network, a Local area network which is geographically limited.
- Usually refers to a LAN network, the complete network of a building or a house. In a large enterprise LAN networks can take, however, is also of gigantic proportions.
- For example, you have to your Computer via a LAN cable (see picture) connected to your Router, you will get through this to the Internet. Another Computer or a printer is connected to the Router, so this is on the same network. The LAN connection can now be replaced data or printed.
- You can connect several devices, such as a Computer or printer using a LAN cable, built up over a distribution station such as a Router, a LAN-network. In this data, such as a USB can be replaced cable.

If there are multiple computers on a local network associated to PC-Games to play, it is also called a LAN Party.
