A hole with a long Tradition: The ruler
Not all, but many rulers you will notice a hole in the lower section. It is a Leftover from the previous school.
- As the Students were still using slates, you need in addition to the ruler and chalk and a wiping cloth to clean the panel. This rag was fastened with a cord through the hole on the ruler.
- Although nowadays no one is more on the idea would come to hang a rag at the Utensil, holding this special type as before.
- By the way: If the hole in your ruler is not unused like, you could, for example, your wall hanging. So you have it always at hand.
