NNTP: What does that mean?
The abbreviation NNTP stands for Network News Transfer Protocol. Is used this communication Protocol for the Transmission of messages within the Usenet.
- The requirements of the transfer Protocol have been defined at the beginning of the year in 1986 and since then has been revised several times.
- In the case of the communication between the Clients and the servers ASCII-commands are used. The communication Protocol includes, among other things, a three-digit number Code, as well as various commands.
- The main task of the NNTP is the Transfer of messages between News servers. In addition, the Newsgroup will be searched for using the NNTP, for example, article and called.
- Among the most common NNTP commands including "Help", so all commands can be used to display, as well as "Article", which a particular item can request.
